What is RTLS?
RTLS stands for Real-Time Location Systems and refers to any system that accurately determines the location of an item or person. RTLS is not a specific type of system or technology, but a goal that can be achieved with a variety of systems for locating and managing resources. An important aspect of RTLS is when tracking assets, and this data can be used differently depending on the application. For example, some applications only require time stamps when an asset exceeds an area, while other RTLS applications require much more detailed visibility and require time data to be constantly updated.
